The UK's Department for International Trade is making a big push to prove it understands the US market ahead of Brexit - but it's a shame it can't claim to know its own countrymen quite so well.

 

In a press release about the special relationship of UK crisp producer Savoursmiths has with the country, the government body proudly boasted "the favourite flavour among Americans is ‘truffle and rosemary', mirroring British tastes". I don't know who they've been talking to, but I'd much rather cheese and onion myself.

 

A new King for the City?

 

Rumour has it that esteemed restaurateur Corbin & King has an eye on a Grade II-listed building in the City for what would be the latest in something of a growth spurt for the group. It's understood that any deal is in its early stages and no concept has been decided upon, with Jeremy King having said he likes the architecture, location and feel of a site to guide its direction.

 

In Vogue

 

Clare Smyth added an appearance in Vogue to her impressive list of awards, accolades and achievements. The chef has featured in the magazine's ‘Forces for Change' September edition, edited by the Duchess of Sussex, alongside Millie Povey, head waiter of her two-Michelin-starred restaurant Core. It's not the first brush with royalty for Smyth, who cooked for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's evening wedding reception. Now we just wait to see if another accolade will be announced in October…
