Just Eat senior executive suspended over misconduct claim

Just Eat Takeaway.com is facing turmoil after its chief operating officer was suspended following allegations of misconduct at a company event.

Jörg Gerbig, who is also a member of the company’s management board, has been the subject of a formal complaint, Just Eat Takeaway.com said.

The group has launched an investigation into the allegations and no conclusions have been drawn.

Gerbig is fully co-operating with the inquiry and has "full confidence" in the outcome, the delivery company said.

His term as chief operating officer will end at the closing of the company's annual general meeting today and continue until at least the end of the investigation.

“Mr Gerbig may be put up for re-election if the allegations are determined to be unfounded,” Just Eat Takeaway.com said in a statement.

At the same time, the company announced that its chairman, Adriaan Nühn, will not be seeking re-election following a backlash from shareholders.

Just Eat Takeaway.com has come under fire from investors over its plans to sell US food delivery platform Grubhub, which it bought for £5.8b in a deal which only completed last June.

Nühn said: "It is clear that shareholders have concerns about the challenges the company is facing.

“The supervisory board shares and understands these concerns, and the company has been in the process of addressing them.”

He added that not seeking re-election was “the best decision” he could take to serve the company and its shareholders.

Vice-chair of the supervisory board Corinne Vigreux will assume the duties chairman while the group searches for a replacement.
