Johan Scheepers has been appointed regional general manager for Macdonald Hotels & Resorts in the North West, and will be based at the Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa.
Overseeing teams at three properties including the Lymm hotel in Warrington, Cheshire, Macdonald New Blossoms in Chester and the Manchester hotel, Scheepers will be responsible for overseeing guest experience and value proposition across all three locations.
Most recently he was based in South Africa, where he was opening general manager of the Maslow hotel, the flagship corporate venue for Sun International, the largest casino and resort operator in Africa. Prior to this he worked on the launch and repositioning of both the Thistle Euston and the Kingsley in Holborn, London.
He also spent four years with Radisson Blu Edwardian, where he became a hotel manager at the brand's Manchester property, received an Acorn award, and completed an advanced management programme at the University of Oxford.
Scheepers said: "I am very much looking forward to the opportunity to maintain the hotel's great reputation and work alongside the wider teams to showcase all three properties as a destination for the local community, tourists and business groups."
Simon Jackson, group sales and operations director, added: "We are delighted to welcome Johan to Macdonald Hotels & Resorts. He has an abundance of knowledge and experience that we feel he can bring to our properties in the North West and the wider group."
