The owners of Joe Allen have confirmed that the restaurant is moving 25 metres down the road to Burleigh Street, as the current site on Exeter Street is forced to make way for actor Robert De Niro's new Covent Garden hotel.
The new site of the historic theatreland restaurant in London's West End, set to launch in August this year, will feature the same wood panelling, theatre posters and the iconic bar as the original restaurant.
Joe Allen has been offering classic American cuisine in a New York-style setting since 1977. It was taken over by London-based restaurateurs Lawrence Hartley and Tim Healy in 2012.
Hartley said: "Although we're moving, we're keeping everything the same - our new home on Burleigh Street will be a reincarnation of the Joe Allen we all know and love, with a couple of new additions.
Healy added: "Joe's is lucky to have such a loyal and supportive community so we're going to preserve everything our customers love about the place; from the team to the posters on the wall, the bar, the classics on the menu - even the walls and the floor are coming with us."
