JKS Restaurants is to launch Brigadiers, an Indian barbecue restaurant and drinking tavern, at Bloomberg Arcade in the City of London in May 2018.
Inspired by the army mess bars of India, the 140-cover Brigadiers will show live sport and offer pool and card games for guests to play.
The dishes on offer will be created using tandoors, charcoal grills, rotisseries, wood ovens and classic Indian smokers. The menu will include: madras mess mix; oysters saagafeller; chaat masala pork skratchings, smoked roe and fennel raita; cocktail pig cheek samosa; shellfish pakora pao and goat chapli and smoked bhuna goat bun kebab.
The drinks will centre around beer with a monthly changing list of 10 offered on tap. The draft beer will be served in 2/3rd âSchoonersâ and ½ pints or 4-pint "Growlers" to share.
Brigadiers will also collaborate with British breweries to commission bespoke beers with a nod to India. The first of these will be a JKS Restaurants session pale ale called 4th Rifles, brewed in collaboration with Thornbridge Brewery.
Designed by Brady Williams Studio, Brigadiers will reference Indian art deco design, with an overall feel reflective of Indian club culture. The reception area will also house a resident shoe shine attendant.
JKS Restaurantsâ portfolio include: Michelin-starred Trishna and Gymkhana, Sri Lankan restaurant Hoppers, which has two sites in Soho and Marylebone and Motu, an Indian home delivery brand.
Bloomberg Arcade includes Koya, Caravan, Vinoteca, Homeslice, Bleecker Burger and Ahi Poké. Ekte Nordic Kitchen and a new restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Andrew Wong will also open in spring 2018.
