JKS Restaurants launches apprenticeship scheme paying £18,000 per year

JKS Restaurants has launched its first apprenticeship academy that will pay candidates £18,000 per year.

Applications are now open for the scheme, which will offer the chance to work across the group’s 13 different brands, including Michelin-starred Gymkhana, Sabor, Kitchen Table and Lyle’s in London.

The academy will be split into dedicated front of house and back of house programmes, with each taking up to 11 apprentices at a time.

It will offer a mix of on and off-the-job training, with the final two to three months taking the form of an assessment where apprentices can present their new skills.

Once a month candidates will meet with a training manager, who will mentor and guide them through the process.

The front of house scheme will last 12 months and allow apprentices to work for two months at six venues across the business.

The back of house program will run for 16 months and allow trainees to work for two months at eight different restaurants.

Both schemes will offer benefits on top of an £18,000 a year salary, including quarterly opportunities to dine at JKS sites, trips with JKS suppliers to farms, vineyards and breweries, discounted gym membership and 50% off dining at JKS Restaurants.

Successful apprentices will be offered a full-time role at the end of the scheme.

A growing number of hospitality groups, including Rick Stein Restaurants and D&D London, have launched paid in-house training schemes over the past year to combat staff shortages in the sector.

JKS was founded by the Sethi family in 2008.
