Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group looks to sell two Barbecoa sites

The Jamie Oliver restaurant group is looking to sell two Barbecoa sites in central London.

Christie & Co confirmed it had been appointed to oversee the marketing of the properties in Piccadilly and One New Change.

A spokesperson for the Jamie Oliver group told The Caterer: "As part of our ongoing and comprehensive review of the restaurant group and its operations, we have instructed a firm of real estate experts to ascertain the potential value and market suitability of two of our sites."

In August 2017 The Caterer reported that the celebrity chef's restaurant group had insisted it would open a Barbecoa steakhouse in the Nova development in Victoria, as rumours circled the plan had been abandoned.

Barbecoa Victoria was announced in 2015 for a September 2016 opening, however it still remains unopened.

The group did not respond to questions about the opening when asked by The Caterer today.

The latest sales come after creditors approved a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) restructuring plan for Jamie's Italian, which will see the closure of 12 sites.

In a statement released on Friday the restaurant group said: "We are pleased to have received the overwhelming support from our creditors for our proposal to reshape Jamie's Italian restaurants. We have a strong brand and are focused on continuing to deliver the levels of service, taste and the experience our loyal customers deserve.

"We are working hard to ensure that our estate is fit for the current trading environment and we feel confident that this newly shaped business will provide strong opportunities for growth and profitability."
