James Dugan appointed executive chef at Sheraton Grand London Park Lane

Former Four Seasons hotel chef James Dugan has been appointed executive chef at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane, Mayfair.

The 303-bedroom Sheraton Grand London Park Lane houses three food and beverage venues, which Dugan will oversee.

These include Italian restaurant, Mercante; the Palm Court which serves afternoon tea; and the Smith & Whistle bar.

He will also be in charge of the food offering for the hotel's meetings and events spaces.

Dugan began his career at the five-starred Chewton Glen hotel in 1993 as commis chef and worked his way up through the luxury hospitality sector. In 1995, he joined the team at the Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane, under the Michelin-starred Jean-Christophe Novelli.

Dugan went on to uphold Michelin stars at both 36 on the Quay in Emsworth and Lindsay House, Soho, before going on to open London's Café Royal Hotel in 2012.

He said: "I'm thrilled to be part of the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane team and to be working with such exciting food and beverage venues. I look forward to bringing my own style and personality to the restaurants to continue to establish them as some of the best places to eat in Mayfair."

Kieran Quinn, hotel manager at Sheraton Grand London Park Lane, added: "We're so happy to have James on the team and delighted that he has chosen the hotel for the next stage in his career. When we first met James, we loved his creative and innovative ideas and his talent shone through immediately. I can't wait to see what he brings to the table in all areas of our food offering. In this iconic British hotel it is great to be able to have British talent at the helm in the kitchen."

Last year, Sheraton London Park Lane joined the premier tier of the Sheraton brand, following a multi-million pound renovation. There are a total of 440 Sheraton Hotels and Resorts in more than 70 countries.
