Hotel du Vin Newcastle opens on-site restaurant

Ten years after the hotel first opened, Hotel du Vin Newcastle has unveiled a new restaurant, Bistro du Vin, following an undisclosed investment.

The French-style bistro offers dishes such as: scallops ceviche with lime and pomegranate; seared Galician octopus; chicken liver parfait; rack of Yorkshire Dales lamb; grilled Cornish mackerel with trout roe; and Chateaubriand.

The building was originally home to the Tyne Tees Steam Ship Company and the site's heritage is echoed throughout the hotel. The bistro's design, by Dakota House of Design, reflects this, with steel-blue walls, bespoke furniture, light wood flooring, a newly-tiled open cook line and concealed lighting.

Hotel du Vin Newcastle general manager Adam Green said: "We are thrilled with the design; it perfectly blends our brand's culture with the rich history that surrounds us on the Quayside. Our diners come to us for the fantastic food and drink we have to offer and the beautiful new bistro setting will complement the whole dining experience."

Hotel du Vin has a collection of 17 townhouse and city centre properties in Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Cheltenham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Harrogate, Henley-on-Thames, Newcastle, Poole, St Andrews, Tunbridge Wells, Wimbledon, Winchester and York.
