Hospitality leaders raise over £266,000 for the homeless at CEO sleepout

Last week over 140 CEOs and business leaders spent a night sleeping outdoors to raise money and awareness to support homeless people this winter.

Over £266,000 has been raised for charities associated with supporting homeless people by the group who spent the night sleeping outdoors at Lord’s Cricket Ground, which included many from the hospitality industry.

Henrik Muehle, managing director of Flemings Mayfair Hotel and London Corporate Ambassador for CEO Sleepout topped the fundraising leader board, personally securing over £22,500 in donations for his chosen charity: Charity Begins at Home.

Other prominent hospitality figures taking part included Rare Restaurants chief executive Martin Williams, Edoardo Minoli, chief operating officer of The Birley Clubs, and Hutong general manager Vijay Sana. They were accompanied by a number of leaders at Caprice Holdings including Dylan Ramsay (commercial finance director) George Jones (group executive director) Jon Davis (chief technology officer), and Una O’Reilly, (group chief of people).

The Caterer editor James Stagg also took part in the sleepout, raising funds for Only a Pavement Away.

He said: “The entire night was a real eye opener. The speakers we heard in the evening really put into perspective just how important this effort was and the significance of supporting the charities that are doing so much to help those experiencing homelessness.

“It was a damp and uncomfortable night of little sleep, but the following morning I was able to warm up, enjoy a coffee and carry on as normal. I can only imagine what doing that night after night must feel like. It would certainly grind you down physically and emotionally.”
