Hospitality Action has launched a fundraising campaign called 'invisible chips' to support vulnerable people in the hospitality industry and “bring a smile to people’s faces.”
The industry charity is urging people to order "a portion" of metaphorical chips from as little as £3, which come in a variety of formats, including dirty invisible chips or an invisible chips sharing portion, along with invisible condiments, such as invisible curry sauce, ahead of visiting their favourite restaurant when it reopens.
All proceeds raised from the invisible chips campaign, which is supported by Fred Sirieix (pictured), will go directly to Hospitality Action.
Mark Lewis, chief executive of Hospitality Action, said: “The campaign aims to bring a smile to people’s faces. Everyone loves chips! Our invisible chips are 0% fat and 100% charity; they’re guilt-free; simple to prepare; they don’t take up freezer space ... and they’ll never go past their use-by date.”
Invisible chips can be ordered through participating operators including Brewdog, Hawksmoor, Gaucho and Brasserie Blanc or via the charity's website.
The charity is encouraging other operators to sign up as Invisible Chip stockists.
Invisible chips' brand ambassador and front of house figurehead Fred Sirieix said that “every single penny” would go towards helping people in hospitality “whose livelihoods were disappearing”.
In May, Hospitality Action launched a Covid-19 wellbeing hub offering resources and advice to support hospitality workers.
