Family-run café brand Hopper & Bean is opening a second site in London's Muswell Hill.
Founders Chet Izzet and Liz and Hass Hassan have taken on the lease of the former Flesh & Flour deli at 162 Fortis Green Road and are hoping to relaunch the venue at the end of May.
"Muswell Hill fitted what we were looking for. It's that sort of neighbourhood village, lots of families, staying out of central London but not too far out as well, those sorts of areas," said co-founder Chet Izzet, speaking to The Caterer. "We're quite confident that it will do just as good there."
Izzet said the new site would be similar to the original in offering and design, but at 60-70 covers will be nearly twice the size of the original Enfield site, and being on the same road as the Everyman Cinema in an area with more evening trade would lend itself well to evening pop-ups. The new site has mostly been funded from the profits of the first.
"We're overwhelmed by the support and success so far, which has enabled us to look for a second site," said Izzet.
The first Hopper & Bean opened in Winchmore Hill in 2017 offering locally sourced food and drink and a family-friendly environment.
