Harbour & Jones nearly doubles turnover to £55m

Foodservice firm Harbour & Jones nearly doubled its turnover in 2016, following its acquisition of Principal Catering Consultants.

Harbour & Jones bought Principal Catering Consultants, with its specialist traditional conference and banqueting venue catering brand Fare, and state school caterer Principals, in 2015.

Turnover for the year to 31 December 2016 rose nearly 50% to £55m after the company benefited from the full-year impact of the acquisition.

Profit before tax also rose strongly, up to £2.7m from £2.1m the year before.

During the second half of 2016, Harbour & Jones relaunched its brands, which now consist of:

• H+J (business and industry, fixed venues and public cafes and restaurants)
• Fare
• Principals
• Upfront (front of house and reception services provider)

Tonic (parties and private event catering)

Harbour & Jones said it was "very pleased" to have grown Principals by over 50% in 2016, while performance in the H&J businesses continued to be strong with net turnover growth in all sectors, including growth in its core B&I sector.
