Hamilton Park racecourse has been given the go-ahead to build a £10m hotel, which will be operated under the mid-market Hampton by Hilton brand.
The 118-bedroom hotel will be built on what is currently the racecourse's main public car park, following approval of plans by South Lanarkshire Council.
Designed by local practice ICA Architects, the hotel is expected to double the size of the racecourse's business within three years of opening, as well as generate an additional £5.9m per year in visitor spending in the area.
Vivien Currie, chief executive at Hamilton Park Racecourse, said: "This significant investment project will bring fantastic benefit to our business and the wider economy.
"We have already had extremely positive feedback from our customers, sponsors and the local community and can't wait to get on the road to delivering this fantastic new facility."
