Green & Fortune to pay all staff beyond the London Living Wage

Foodservice company Green & Fortune is to pay all its current and future staff at a new hourly rate “significantly higher" than the minimum wage and the London Living Wage in a bid to recruit and retain talent.

While many of these rates are around £10 per hour, Green & Fortune will pay more than £12 per hour to the majority of its staff from 1 December. The company operates a mix of retail and events catering at three London sites.

John Nugent, chief executive of Green & Fortune, said that providing a better than average rate of pay will play a big part in attracting staff to the industry: “As we re-build the business we are maintaining a focus on our people and how we can reward them and provide stability for our great people in these uncertain times. Alongside increased hourly rates, we have also introduced a number of other initiatives to reward employees and support work-life balance and general wellbeing. These include long service payments, additional days off and one-off bonus payments for all employees.”

Last year the company launched Green & Fortune Support to help team members who had been hardest hit by the pandemic. Support include access to an emergency cash fund, mentorship from a senior member of staff, additional training, CV and interview workshops, and free weekly meals for staff and family members.

Green & Fortune, which achieved pre-Covid annual revenues of £19m, operates at Kings Place in King’s Cross, Sea Containers on the South Bank and Central Hall Westminster.
