Green & Fortune to launch Rose Court Events on London's South Bank

Green & Fortune is to launch a new events business at Rose Court on London’s South Bank.

Minutes from its Sea Containers business, Rose Court Events will be the group’s fourth site and represents the caterer’s confidence in the return of London's events industry.

Green & Fortune chief executive John Nugent told The Caterer that when fully up and running the long-term contract at the site, which can host over 700 people across all floors and outdoor spaces, would take the business to a turnover exceeding £20m.

He added: “We had been tempted to look at smaller things for growth - some we’ve walked away from and some we were unsuccessful with. But that worked in our favour as what we have now is four premium London sites.

“It has helped reaffirm our strategy of only working in premium venues where there is a commercial edge, an opportunity for growth and return for us and our partners. So not looking below certain levels of turnover.”

Rose Court Events will be one of the largest event spaces to open this year. Covering 25,000 sq ft over three floors, it is made up of nine event spaces each with panoramic views of the capital and includes a showpiece roof garden with views across the city.

Nugent said: “The launch of Rose Court Events is very symbolic. The scale, quality and ambition of this project is a true indicator that live, person to person events, are fully back. The quality of the environment, the amount of outdoor space available and the total guest experience will combine for this to be instantly recognised as one of the leading events venues in central London.”

Rose Court Events will be the caterer’s fourth site, following the opening of Kings Place Events in 2008, Sea Containers Events in 2017 and the announcement of a long-term catering partnership with Central Hall Westminster in 2020.

Having suffered along with all other hospitality businesses during the pandemic, Nugent said that Green & Fortune was now on track to exceed 2019 levels of turnover.

He said: “This year we’ll exceed 2019 levels. In the coming 18 months we hope to have doubled where we were in March 2020. We’ll be in excess of £20m with a fair wind.”

Nugent added: “At Green & Fortune we work in premium London locations and Rose Court Events sits right at the core of this. As we continue to re-build the company post-pandemic, the announcement of a fourth venue within the group is testament to the hard work of our team and how we have tackled the challenges of the last couple of years.

“This launch is a very positive move not just for us, but for the industry and will be a great addition to London’s event scene.”
