Gordon Ramsay Restaurants signs deal to expand into Thailand

Gordon Ramsay is set to open 14 restaurants in Thailand after signing a deal with the lifestyle company behind jewellery brand Pandora.

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants has signed a multi-restaurant partnership with Tanachira Group, which is also behind the Cath Kidston retail brand.

It is part of an international expansion push for the chef’s group, which runs 37 UK restaurants and 35 sites worldwide. Ramsay’s group recently opened four sites in South Korea and two in Malaysia as it looks to grow across Asia.

The Tanachira partnership will see the opening of two restaurants in Bangkok’s Emsphere Mall, a luxury shopping destination set to launch in December.

A Bread Street Kitchen & Bar will open on the ground floor of the mall and serve an all-day menu including Beef Wellington, fish and chips, and sticky toffee pudding.

Street Pizza, the fast-growing casual concept Ramsay launched in London in 2018, will open on the first floor and serve bottomless sourdough pizza with toppings such as corn and chorizo, alongside hot wings and branded merchandise including hoodies and caps.

A further 12 restaurants in Thailand will open “in the coming years”, both companies said.

Andy Wenlock, Gordon Ramsay Restaurants chief executive, said the Tanchira teamed held “the same ambitions as Gordon and myself”.

“This new partnership with Tanachira Group continues our global growth, whilst bringing our fantastic casual and premium casual brands to a new audience in Bangkok, who we know love to go out, socialise and enjoy good food,” Wenlock said.

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants saw turnover triple to £78.9m in the year to 28 August 2022.

Its international portfolio also includes restaurants in the United States, France, and Dubai.

The business holds a total of seven Michelin stars worldwide, including at the flagship Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London, which has held the maximum three stars for more than 20 years.
