GOOD WEEK**

 

Getaways Police in San Francisco were too late to arrest any of the protestors who took over a vacant hotel in the city to call attention to the needs of the homeless. They left by climbing on to the roof and escaping via other roofs.

 

Chivalry Former Spice Girl Mel B has defended husband Stephen Belafonte after he was arrested following a fight in London's five-star May Fair hotel. Mel B claimed he was acting in her defence.

 

Lock-in A New Zealander had to call police to a watering hole in the South Island town of Lawrence after he fell asleep and staff locked him in on his own.

 

BAD WEEK

 

Livers Kenneth Lowe, 65, has completed his mission to drink a pint in each of Surrey's 900 pubs. Lowe and friends used Camra's Good Beer Guide to keep track of the pubs they had visited.

 

Thais A Thai columnist has hit out at Australian Nahm head chef David Thompson after he opened a branch of the restaurant in Bangkok. Suthon Sukphisit said Thompson was "slapping the faces of Thai people".

 

Hygiene Baby high chairs in restaurants have more bacteria than the average toilet seat, according to research. Tests on high chairs in US restaurants showed the presence of E coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis.
