Gleneagles’ city outpost in Edinburgh is expected to open autumn 2021 in St Andrews Square, in what was formerly the Bank of Scotland headquarters.
Gleneagles Townhouse will have 33 bedrooms, an all-day restaurant and two bars, including a rooftop terrace. The site will also be home to a members’ club.
The building was originally developed on behalf of the British Linen Bank in 1846. It is located within the New Town Conservation Area and is part of the Edinburgh World Heritage Site.
The original resort in Auchterarder, Perthshire, has announced it will close until 1 February due to coronavirus restrictions affecting operations. Meanwhile, owner Ennismore is planning to join forces with hotel giant Accor to form what it says will be the world's largest operator of lifestyle hotels.
