French chef Nicolas Boucher to relocate following Devon inn purchase

Nicolas Boucher, a Michelin Bib Gourmand-winning French chef, has bought the Rams Head Inn in Dolton off a guide price of £475,000.

Chef-proprietor Boucher has sold his restaurant La Balata in L'Aiguillon-sur-Vie, France, to move to the Devon property with his family.

Originally a Devon longhouse dating back to the 17th century, the Rams Head is Grade II-listed and features a bar, lounge and dining areas, nine en suite bedrooms and outdoor seating for 80.

Commenting on the acquisition, Boucher said: "I am particularly excited about enhancing the food offering and developing new seasonal menus. I have always been an ambassador for using only the finest local ingredients and I have been really impressed by the quality of local produce. We look forward to welcoming customers old and new to the Rams Head."

The sale of the freehold was handled by Stonesmith. Director Mike Phillips added: "The business attracted significant interest with multiple offers being received. We wish Nico and his family every success with their new venture."
