Francisco Macedo to replace Kevin Brooke as Cliveden general manager

Francisco Macedo has been promoted to the role of general manager at Cliveden following the departure of Kevin Brooke.

Macedo joined the five-red-AA-starred, 47-bedroom property in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, over a year ago as operations director having previously been general manager at Bovey Castle in Devon.

He said: “I am delighted and genuinely excited with the opportunities that lie ahead. In addition to improving our guests’ experience, developing wellness and spa programmes, enhancing dining opportunities, and monitoring the environmental impact of our operation at Cliveden, our key focus over the next few years will be to develop and invest in our current team, to create leaders of tomorrow.”

Andrew Stembridge, executive director of Iconic Luxury Hotels, said: “Francisco’s combination of strong leadership skills, commercial acumen and boundless energy have made a measurable impact on the business in a year which has seen a 10% year-on-year increase in top-line revenues and 18% growth in gross operating profit.

“Following substantial investment from our owners London and Regional [L+R] over recent years, incredible international publicity from the likes of the royal wedding and a number of prestigious awards, Cliveden is in a really good place and I have no doubt that Francisco has the drive and dynamism to keep Cliveden moving forwards at a pace.”

During his three-year tenure at Cliveden, Brooke oversaw the completion of L+R Hotels’ multimillion-pound restoration of the property, which famously hosted Meghan Markle on the eve of her wedding.

Stembridge added: “I would like to thank Kevin Brooke for a job very well done at Cliveden House and wish him great success in the future.”

Cliveden House is owned by the National Trust and operated under a long lease arrangement by Iconic Luxury Hotels. The collection also includes Chewton Glen in New Milton, Hampshire; 11 Cadogan Gardens in London’s Chelsea; and the Lygon Arms in Broadway, Worcestershire.
