Foodservice Cateys 2021 winners revealed

The Foodservice Cateys returned this evening, which saw outgoing chief executive of the Clink Chris Moore recognised for his work within the sector with the Outstanding Contribution Award.

The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London played host to the good and the great of the foodservice industry as well as recognising Moore in his work at the charity, which has trained thousands of prisoners to work in front and back of house hospitality roles, as well as in horticulture.

During his tenure the Clink has grown from one restaurant in HMP High Down in Sutton to deliver 14 training projects: four restaurants, six kitchens, three gardens and one event catering business.

As Finlay Scott, chairman of the Clink Charity, said when Moore announced his departure: “Chris has taken the Clink from a single start-up training restaurant to being one of the most effective organisations reducing reoffending in the UK.”

The Extra Mile Award, meanwhile, went to Andy Jones, whose continued work with organisations as a facilities manager and catering consultant has meant his skills were essential to many hospitals and managers in organising crucial logistics during the pandemic.

Foodservice giant Compass won several awards through its B&I catering arm Eurest, which was awarded the CSER Award, Aga Bernaciak won Trainee Chef of the Year and marketing, health and wellness director Liz Forte won Healthy Eating Champion. Wayne Corbett also walked away with Chef Manager of the Year and Rapport Guest Services’ learning and development team scooped the People and Training Award.

Several individuals from Sodexo were recognised, including Neil Quinn, who won Regional Manager of the Year, and the Rising Star Award was won by Joanna Watt. Westbury Street Holdings brands BaxterStorey and Portico were given the Innovation Award and Front of House Team of the Year, respectively.

Meanwhile, Best Use of Technology Award went to Derbyshire County Council Catering Service, Healthcare Caterer of the Year to Signature Dining, and Business and Industry Caterer of the Year to Blue Apple.
