First Manchester Hotel Indigo opens this week

The first Hotel Indigo in Manchester is opening this week following a two-year, £30m renovation of the Grade II-listed City Buildings development.

The 187-bedroom hotel will be launching adjacent to Victoria Station under InterContinental Hotels Group's (IHG) boutique brand on Thursday.

Interstate Hotels & Resorts will manage the property, which will also house the 120-cover Mamucium restaurant and bar and 75-cover M Café overseen by former Lowry hotel executive chef Andrew Green.

James Houlston, managing director of developer BH Group, said: "We are delighted with the outcome of this project, 3D Reid has created a truly iconic building which, with its pivotal location at the gateway to the Noma project, will become a recognised landmark for the city centre."

Neil Brook, regional director North West of construction group Bowmer & Kirkland said: "This project has been a complex one for us, but we are delighted to reach practical completion."
