Firedog closes eight months after opening

Firedog, the Aegean small plates restaurant concept from the Fork & Blade restaurant group in London's Fitzrovia, has closed eight months after opening.

The restaurant on Newman Street, which opened in January, closed last week so the group can "focus on new ventures", however the group has said it may relaunch the concept at a later date.

Fork & Blade's hospitality portfolio includes Covent Garden coffee house the Black Penny and Trawler Trash fish restaurant, which opened in May, both of which remain open.

The group said: "The Fork and Blade group is concentrating on other projects for the time being. The Firedog concept is still very much alive and had an amazing response from all of our customers. We've just put the coat back up on the peg for a little while until the timing is right to relaunch the concept.

"All staff have been offered to be part of other Fork and Blade ventures. We really value all our staff and have their best interests at heart."
