Jumeirah appoints new regional VP to oversee Carlton Tower renovation

Jumeirah has appointed Fergus Stewart regional vice-president of Europe to oversee the upcoming renovation of the Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London.

The five-red-AA-star, 216-bedroom Belgravia hotel closed on 1 September for a year-long renovation, with around 300 staff being made redundant.

Stewart replaces Luc Delafosse, who was also the hotel’s general manager and left the company in January, however Jumeirah said a separate general manager would be appointed ahead of the hotel reopening.

Originally from Scotland, Stewart's remit will include Jumeirah’s portfolio in Europe and London, including Grosvenor House Suites and the Jumeirah Lowndes hotel. He joins Jumeirah from an 11-year tenure at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), where most recently he held the position of vice president of the luxury hotels division – Europe, responsible for properties including the InterContinental London Park Lane.
