Fattal hotel group acquires site for new Leonardo hotel in Manchester

Fattal hotel group has acquired a site in Manchester's Adair Street where it will open a 275-bedroom Leonardo hotel in 2021.

The operator of Jury's Inn and Leonardo Hotels has said the 110,000 sq ft hotel will incorporate a gym as well as a restaurant and bar.

The opening follows Fattal's purchase of the Midland hotel in Manchester in October, in a deal that saw it partner with Swedish hotel investment company Pandox.

Jason Carruthers, managing director of Leonardo and Jurys Inn Hotels UK and Ireland, said: "We are delighted to have secured this prime new location as we continue to increase our offering in the UK. The opportunity to expand into a vibrant and growing city like Manchester is a great one, and this move serves to strengthen our portfolio and network enormously. We look forward to beginning works as soon as possible, and welcoming our first guests to the hotel."

The hotel will sit in an area earmarked by Manchester City Council for regeneration with the intention of creating a new urban quarter for commercial and residential use.

The hotel is part of Israeli-based Fattal's continued expansion in the UK following it and Pandox's purchase of the Jurys Inn portfolio of 36 hotels at the end of last year for £800m.
