The Ethicurean restaurant launches crowdfund to help survive the winter

The Ethicurean restaurant in the Bristol area has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help it survive the winter.

The team is looking to raise £10,000 to get the business through the quieter cold period until the spring.

Customers can enter a draw for prizes, including a private dinner party cooked by Ethicurean head chef Mark McCabe, a ten-person experience in the restaurant’s private dining room, and a foraging walk with founder Matthew Pennington.

The Crowdfunder page reads: “Our whole industry is facing a challenging winter, and our beautiful but out-of-town location means we've always been less busy over the festive period, as guests opt for the bustling bright lights of the city centre.

“So many of you helped support us during the lockdowns, and earlier this year, when we asked you to dig deep for Ukraine, you once again showed up in force.

“This time, we’re asking you to consider buying a ticket (or as many as you feel able) for our Crowdfund Prize Draw, in support of the restaurant itself.”

The Ethicurean opened in 2010 and is set within a walled garden and orchard against the backdrop of the Mendip Hills.

It has held a Michelin Green Star for its mission to reduce food waste and status as a Living Wage Employer since 2021.

At the time of writing, the page has raised just over £3,000 with eight days remaining.
