Spain's Elena Arzak, one of Europe's most celebrated female chefs, will make her first UK appearance at the 2009 Caterer and Hotelkeeper Chef Conference in London this September.
Arzak is one of an elite band of female chefs in Europe whose restaurant holds three Michelin stars. She is the joint head chef at San Sebastian's Arzak restaurant, alongside her father Juan Mari Arzak, and represents the fourth generation of her family to enter the business.
The restaurant, which gained its third Michelin accolade in 1987, is famous for its modern interpretation of Basque cuisine and serves dishes such as "the squid circle", which is centred on cooked and tartare squid infused with orange peel, sarsaparilla and ginger.
Arzak will be co-hosting a culinary masterclass at the conference alongside Angela Hartnett. They will share the limelight with a host of other British culinary stars, including Michael Caines and the country's newest two-Michelin-star holder, Martin Burge of Whatley Manor in Wiltshire.
The Caterer and Hotelkeeper Chef Conference will take place on 28 September at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower hotel in London's Knightsbridge.
