Mexican restaurant brand El Pastor is to open its second site in Bermondsey next month.
The new site will make fresh tortillas from scratch every day, using Mexican heirloom corn (maize) and a tortilla machine ordered in from Mexico. These will be available for eat in or take away, along with salsas, tomatillos, serranos, jalapenos and Mexican style cheeses.
There will also be a taco bar, serving a short menu of tacos, including the Al Pastor with 24 hour marinated pork shoulder, caramelized pineapple and guacamole taquero; and the Mushroom taco with caramelised onion and melted Oaxaca cheese.
Exclusively for the Bermondsey site, Sopes - thick corn mini maize cakes - will be on offer for the first time.
Desserts include mezcal, burnt honey and grapefruit cake; chocolate pots; and the EP Bounty Bar.
The bar will serve Mexican beers, agua frescas and El Pastorâs first batch of its own mezcal, made in partnership with Mexicoâs La Clandestina mezcaleria and their master mezcalero, Don Guillermo Abad.
The tortilleria will be open Thursday dinner, Friday and Saturday lunch and dinner and Sunday lunch times.
