The Roxburghe in Edinburgh, currently operated by Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, is to be branded as a Crowne Plaza
Owned by Paragon for 15 years, the hotel has undergone a £7m investment since 2008, with a refurbishment of the bedrooms, reception and lounge.
Â
The franchise agreement will see further investment in the bar and restaurant, and the refurbishment of the meeting areas and club bedrooms. A new lounge will be created, and the website completely revamped and rebranded.
Â
Marcello Ventisei, general manager at the Roxburghe, believes the Crowne Plaza brand will give the hotel a new standing in the market: âThe Roxburghe is perfectly placed in the centre of the city for visiting businessman and international leisure guests,â he said. âWith the added stature of now being a four-star Crowne Plaza property, I believe this will elevate the hotel further.â
Â
Richard Grime, managing director of Paragon Hotels, said becoming a Crowne Plaze will provide The Roxburghe with it greater access to an international client base travelling to the Scottish capital.
The new agreement will mark the upscale Crowne Plaza brandâs first property in Edinburgh.
Paragon Hotels owns 10 hotels in the UK : while eight are operated under the Classic Lodges brand, the Savill Court Hotel & Spa in Windsor continues to be managed by Macdonald Hotels & Resorts.
