Future students of the Edge Hotel School, based at the University of Essex Colchester campus, will have the opportunity of experiencing a stay in a luxury hotel while undertaking work placements.
London Edition, properties within the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, the Ritz London, Shangri La at the Shard and the Georgian House in the capital have all signed up to a scheme involving practical experience for students which will involve them shadowing hotel management and staff, alongside an overnight stay, as part of the #EHS100 campaign to sign up the next 100 students to join the school.
Andy Boer, principal of the Edge Hotel School, said the school is indebted to the hotels for offering such "amazing experiences" to the students.
"The #EHS100 campaign is all about firing up young people's enthusiasm and passion for a career in hospitality, and having the opportunity to experience one of these iconic hotels both from a managerial and a customer perspective can only help to inspire the next generation of young professionals for the industry."
Liz McGivern, vice-president human resources at Red Carnation, added that the experience was a fantastic way for students to gain invaluable knowledge of the luxury hotel industry. "Let's face it, many of us haven't had the opportunity to stay in a four or five star hotel, even though we're serving people to that exacting standard every day.
"Experiencing this level of service first hand is a great learning opportunity, and is particularly beneficial at the beginning of a career in hospitality."
