Ed Fitzpatrick appointed GM of Bath's Homewood hotel

Ed Fitzpatrick has been appointed general manager of Bath’s 21-bedroom Homewood hotel owned by Kaleidoscope Collection.

He will join the hotel on 20 January having spent nearly two years as deputy general manager at the Lygon Arms in Broadway, Worcestershire. An Acorn Award winner in 2016, Fitzpatrick previously spent four and a half years at Lygon’s sister hotel, Chewton Glen in New Milton, Hampshire, initially as food and beverage operations manager and then operations manager.

Fitzpatrick will replace Neil Glasspool who spent 19 months at Homewood.

Homewood was acquired by Kaleidoscope Collection, owned by Ian and Christa Taylor, in August 2018 and is sister property to the 28-bedroom Bird hotel in Bath. It is currently in the process of being extended with the addition of 11 bedrooms, which are due to open in June, new outdoor terrace and the introduction of glamping with four yurts and an outdoor meeting space.

Ian Taylor said that the hotel is entering “a very exciting phase” and is “delighted” that Fitzpatrick will be joining the property.

“We have changed the team significantly, headed by the appointment three months ago of Rui de Carvalho as deputy general manager who spent seven years at Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons.”

Other new appointments include: events manager Lewis Collins; guest relations manager Ania Malecka; food and beverage manager Claudio Gheorghita; housekeeper Barbara Arabella and executive head chef Jamie Foreman.

“We are very excited that Ed is going to head this great talent of people and be the one who leads getting Homewood back on the map as one of the top destination places to stay in the UK.”

Homewood also announced that it has just been accepted into the Mr & Mrs Smith collection of hotels.

At Lygon Arms, Fitzpatrick will be replaced by Darren Connor, currently food and beverage operations manager at Cliveden House in Taplow, Berkshire. Lygon Arms, Clivden House and Chewton Glen are all part of the Iconic Luxury Hotels portfolio owned by property investment company L+R.
