Dorset's Eastbury Hotel sold to Lana de Savary for more than £2m

Lana de Savary, wife of millionaire businessman Peter de Savary, has purchased Dorset's Eastbury hotel for more than £2m.

The de Savarys, who have owned and operated luxury hotels and clubs for 40 years, are planning a £1.5m refurbishment later this year.

The work is expected to see a boutique spa added to the development alongside six garden rooms and two "tree house" rooms.

The couple currently own the Cary Arms & Spa, Torquay, Devon; having previously owned Skibo Castle, Dornoch, Sutherland, and Bovey Castle, Newton Abbott, Devon.

The 23-bedroom Eastbury hotel, in Sherborne, had been owned and managed by Paul and Nicky King for the past 17 years and has three AA stars.

Lana said: "We hope to further invest in the hotel to maintain its reputation and, subject to planning approval, add a few additional luxurious rooms as well as a boutique spa facility for hotel guests.

"I was particularly attracted to the Eastbury which is a period country house with lovely gardens, extraordinarily situated in the heart of the charming and quintessentially English town of Sherborne."
