Denham Grove hotel sold to owner of the Clay Oven

The 100-bedroom Denham Grove hotel in Uxbridge, Buckinghamshire, has been sold by US-based Starwood Capital to Neal Khanna, the owner of the Asian catering business the Clay Oven, off a guide price of £13m.

Located within 42 acres of grounds, the hotel has recently sat within the Principal Hotel Company portfolio, having been acquired by Starwood Capital as part of the De Vere Venues collection of 23 properties in 2014.

Denham Grove will now be operated by management company Countrywide Hotels, which currently has a portfolio of nine properties. Darren Patt launched Countrywide Hotels in 2014 having previously worked at De Vere Venues as managing director - operations.

It will now undergo a £3m refurbishment, which will see all the bedrooms, reception, restaurant and main conference facilities updated, as well as the launch of an Indian fusion restaurant. The hotel has a total of 19 function rooms and extensive leisure facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym and tennis courts.

Khanna, whose catering company includes the 200-seat Clay Oven restaurant in Ealing, west London, said: "We have some exciting plans for Denham Grove and I am delighted to have appointed Countrywide Hotels to assist me in reimagining the hotel and its facilities and applying the knowledge needed to take it forward."

Darren Patt, managing director of countrywide Hotels, added: "We are excited to be working with Neal on this project to reposition Denham Grove as a premier four star Buckinghamshire hotel. Neal brings a wealth of expertise in quality food service as one of the leading Asian caterers in the UK."
