De Vere Horsley Estate unveils £2m makeover

De Vere Horsley Estate in Surrey has revealed the results of a £2m refurbishment to its Horsley Towers.

The renovation programme involved a complete overhaul of interiors throughout Horsley Towers, which now features a relaxed and contemporary reception and communal areas with soft floral and geometric patterns, tweeds and royal blue accents. The 28 bedrooms now feature tan leather furniture, tweeds and a muted colour palette.

In addition, the refurbishment has seen the event spaces in Horsley Towers, including its Great Hall, renovated, including original features dating to 1822. The estate also features a restaurant and a further 152 bedrooms in Horsley Place.

Michael Micallef, general manager at De Vere Horsley Estate, said: “With its reinvigorated look now contributing to an all-improved overall guest experience, we are delighted with the results of the refurbishment. The makeover has returned Horsley Towers to its former glory.”

The 19th-century mansion house was designed by Sir Charles Barry, who designed the Houses of Parliament and Highclere Castle in Newbury, Berkshire. The estate was originally the marital home of Lord Bryon’s daughter, Ada Lovelace, regarded as one of the world's first computer programmers, and was featured in Netflix series The Crown.

There are understood to be 12 De Vere hotels, two of which are on the market, and 22 venues in total including event spaces and partner hotels.
