David Morgan-Hewitt, one of the UK's most recognisable and popular hoteliers, was presented with the Outstanding Contribution award at the Hotel Cateys 2017 this evening.
He was honoured for his role in raising the profile of and helping to transform the Goring hotel in London into one of the world's most recognisable hotels, for chairing numerous organisations and initiatives, and for devoting immeasurable hours to the progression of others.
He is a Master Innholder, a supporter of industry charity Springboard, a fellow of the Institute of Hospitality, a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Innholders, a freeman of the City of London, a former chairman of Pride of Britain and an honorary catering advisor to the army.
A gathering of 660 guests at the Hotel Cateys presentation dinner at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London gave Morgan-Hewitt a standing ovation as he was presented with the accolade, sponsored by Diversey Care.
Morgan-Hewitt was one of 18 winners at the glittering awards ceremony, which saw new hotel brand Principal, launched 12 months ago, carry off two awards for Conference and Banqueting Team of the Year (Principal York) and Spa Professional of the Year (Leon Trayling).
Comedian Sara Pascoe presented the awards, with entertainment from beat box singers Duke and the Lionels band. Springboard benefited from the eveningâs fundraising efforts.
