David Monson appointed GM of Como the Halkin hotel

Como Hotels and Resorts has appointed David Monson as the general manager of its 41-bedroom Como the Halkin hotel in Belgravia, London.

Monson has been promoted from hotel manager of sister property, the 144-bedroom Como Metropolitan London hotel on Park Lane.

He replaces Andrew Thomson, who has moved to the 189-bedroom Doubletree by Hilton London Ealing.

After spending four years as a management trainee with the Savoy Group, Monson joined Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in 1996, initially in Park Lane, London, before moving to the Canary Wharf property and then abroad to Dallas in the US and the Bahamas. He returned to the UK in 2006 as director of food and beverage of the Four Seasons in Canary Wharf, before moving to the same role at the group's hotel in Hampshire.

Following a brief stint at the Stafford London hotel, Monson joined the Como Metropolitan London hotel on Park Lane as hotel manager in 2015.

He said that he was "thrilled" to take on his new role at the Como the Halkin. "This hotel stands out in a competitive city thanks to its incredible reputation for luxury," he explained.

Thomas Orchard, regional general manager of Como, added: "David's two years at Como Metropolitan London have been incredibly successful. He has an enviable wealth of experience in hotel management, and will be a very significant asset to Como the Halkin and its Michelin-starred restaurant, Ametsa with Arzak Instruction.''

Founded by Christina Ong and headquartered in Singapore, Como Hotels and Resorts comprises 13 properties worldwide, including the two in London.
