Daish’s Holidays has acquired the Esplanade hotel in Scarborough out of administration following the collapse of Northern Powerhouse Developments Hotels last year.
The 70-bedroom property will remain open as the company take on the management. Daish’s also said it will undertake minor refurbishments to parts of the building in sections over the coming months to avoid the need to shut the hotel. NPD bought the hotel from the Co-operative Group in 2017.
Paul Harper, director of sales and marketing at Daish’s Holidays, said: “We are really excited to have completed on the acquisition of the Esplanade hotel in Scarborough. We have been on the lookout for a hotel in the area for a while as we know the location sits well within our group of hotels and is a popular destination for our customers. The Esplanade hotel is a stunning building that boasts incredible views over the coastline which we are now proud to offer to our new and existing customers.”
Jeanne Wilson’s Daish’s Holidays is a family-owned and operated business that now has 10 hotels located in popular tourist destinations across England and Wales, including the Grade II*-listed Claremont hotel in Eastbourne which had to be demolished last month following a devastating fire. The company also has a fleet of 25 luxury coaches.
