HRC preview: Cutting-edge kitchen kit

In the second preview of this year’s HRC show at Excel London, Lisa Jenkins discovers the new kitchen equipment that will be on display from all the biggest companies

 

The Professional Kitchen, Interiors and Tabletop and Hospitality Tech areas of the HRC show are designated for suppliers of professional catering equipment, tableware, linen, furniture, electronic point of sale systems, loyalty programmes, food safety systems and many more. Here we take a look at the latest offerings.

 

Carpigiani

 

Carpigiani will have a team of experts ready to demonstrate the profit opportunities that a caterer can leverage from artisan gelato and soft-serve ice-cream. The focus will be on the new Ready Chef, a machine with 16 gelato programmes and 16 pastry programmes, including four for pastry creams, eight for working chocolate and four for special desserts.

ETI

 

Electronic Temperature Instruments (ETI) will reveal a new deep-frying oil tester that determines the quality of various types of frying oil. Lightweight and easy to use, the deep-frying oil tester can simultaneously display the temperature of the frying oil and the total polar material percentage, an indication of quality. By only changing the oil when required, caterers can save money and time, as well as reduce waste.

Synergy Grill Technology

 

Synergy Grill Technology has a new product launch that will be unveiled on the stand. Visitors will also be able to see the British manufacturer’s award-winning Synergy Grill in action.

Meiko UK

 

Meiko UK is launching its new sustainable food waste treatment solution, the Meiko Green Solutions BioMaster, which takes all food waste, including cooking oils, fats and even bones to create a biomass product that is pumped to holding tanks for collection. It’s suitable for all types of kitchen, with three models, including a slimline version. A selection from Meiko’s premium M-iClean series will give visitors the chance to see Meiko’s ergonomic automatic hood in action on single and double-basket pass-through dishwashers. Kit from the UPster range will be on the stand and the UPster rack transport K-S160 – the smallest machine in Meiko’s rack fleet – will make its debut.

BGL Rieber

 

BGL Rieber is a specialist in food transport solutions and will be exhibiting its Thermoport insulated and heated food transport boxes and the Thermoplate GN pans. Rieber’s connectivity technologies will be showcased with a new phone app that can remotely control the latest version of the Rieber K-Pot electric chafing dish, which can cook as well as hold hot food. Also controlled by an app is Rieber’s 10-compartment Multipolar communal refrigeration, which opens the fridge compartment door when the app-holder enters the room.

Wexiödisk

 

Wexiödisk will launch its brand new WD-6 Glass, a hood-type glasswasher specifically designed for venues with a high turnover of glassware, such as bars, pubs and restaurants. The company has developed glassware-specific technology and a brand-new ‘glass lift’ mechanism, which allows water to evenly run down the outside of each glass, allowing for spotless glassware results.

T&G Woodware

 

T&G Woodware will be launching a range of new products at the show. Its new collection, ‘Deco’, is inspired by 1920s art deco design and comprises a serving and sharing range of wood boards, bowls, servers and platters and the new Tip Top Deco Gold salt and pepper mills.

Rational

 

The Rational stand will be its biggest yet and the company will be showcasing its VarioCookingCenter and SelfCookingCenter appliances. Rational will also be providing opportunities to see how its ConnectedCooking works. The system is particularly beneficial to operations with multiple units, as it allows users to link their Rational equipment to a network and to monitor operation over the internet. Rational will also be showing its combi oven Finishing System, including the Thermocover, which is employed predominantly in banqueting and events. Used in conjunction with Rational’s mobile food trolleys, the Thermo-cover allows plated meals that have been prepared and finished in the SelfCookingCenter to stay at the optimum temperature for up to 20 minutes after finishing.

Falcon Foodservice Equipment

 

Falcon Foodservice Equipment will be showcasing its new high-speed oven and will launch its new One Series induction top oven range. The high-speed oven is designed for use in areas wherespace is limited, where speed and quality are essential. Installation is easy as it doesn’t require an extraction hood, due to the onboard ventless technology. The One Series induction range is designed to suit the needs of caterers in, for example, care homes, coffee shops and cafés. It’s an affordable induction model designed for kitchens that don’t need the high power and performance found in Falcon’s F900 and Dominator Plus induction models.

 

Williams

 

Refrigeration manufacturer Williams will show off the latest range of chilled and heated multi-decks and its Chef’s Drawer, which can be switched from chilled to frozen storage. William is sharing the stand with sister company Falcon Foodservice Equipment, and together they will be showcasing a café concept where visitors will be able to see food being stored, prepped and cooked on the stand – and try it for themselves.

Hoshizaki

 

Hoshizaki is set to unveil its new range of CO2 natural refrigerant cabinets, the brand’s next generation of commercial refrigerators, which are environmentally friendly thanks to a ozone depletion potential of zero.

 

EcoPure Waters

 

EcoPure Waters will show how easy it is for restaurants, hotels and other foodservice operations to eliminate single-use plastic water bottles. Overall costs start at less than £20 per week, including a full care and maintenance package. EcoPure Waters’ filtration systems, which is chosen by organisations such as InterContinental Hotels Group, deliver chilled water, still and sparkling, on-demand, for serving in reusable glass bottles. There is a range of equipment sizes to suit the volumes of water used by different venues.

###UK Coffee in Good Spirits Championship

 

For a much-needed energy boost after all this equipment, head over to a new feature at the show for 2020. HRC has announced it is partnering with the Speciality Coffee Association to bring the UK Coffee in Good Spirits Championship and UK Brewers Cup Championship to Excel.

 

The Coffee in Good Spirits Championships take place on 3 March and are designed for aspiring bartenders, mixologists and baristas. Entrants are asked to prepare their own hot or cold coffee cocktails to be presented to the judges. The highest scoring six competitors go through to the final round, where they will prepare the perfect Irish coffee, plus one hot or cold coffee cocktail.

 

This is the only competition where contestants can use alcohol. Contestants are judged on their technical skills, the aesthetic appeal of the drink and, of course, the taste.

 

The Brewers Cup Final takes place on 4 March and highlights the ever-growing craft of skilled manual filter coffee brewing. Entrants must prepare three coffees for the judges, where each coffee must have consistency in great taste and quality.
