The 1,019-bedroom Cumberland hotel, London, has been sold for around £215m in what is believed to be Europe's largest hotel transaction this year.
Private property company **London & Regional **and global investment firm Starwood Capital have purchased the four star deluxe property in a joint venture from the Royal Bank of Scotland, which is currently also trying to sell the nearby 494-bedroom Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott hotel.
The sale of the hotel will not affect Guoman Hotels' management of the property, which was sold by CBRE Hotels, on behalf of the Royal Bank of Scotland. The Cumberland is home to celebrity chef Gary Rhodes' Michelin-starred Rhodes W1 and his Rhodes W1 Brasserie.
London & Regional also recently bought the **Columbus hotel **in Monaco from former racing driver, David Coulthard.
