Cliveden owner to buy Teddington hotel and leisure club

Cliveden House owner L+R is set to acquire the Lensbury hotel and leisure club in Teddington in a deal thought to be worth £60m.

The four-star, 15-bedroom property in Middlesex has extensive leisure facilities and is currently owned by oil and gas company Shell, with L+R set to take ownership over the coming months.

"We have always been keen that any change of ownership builds on the history and heritage of the Lensbury and I believe that L+R ownership will mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for this unique business, its members and staff," said chairman Tim Harte, who said it would remain "business as usual" through the tradition of ownership.

He added: "[L+R] are very aware of the long and rich history of the Lensbury and wish it to remain vibrant and relevant to its members, guests and staff. They fully appreciate that, at its core, the Lensbury is a premium leisure club and this is vital to its future success."

L+R, billionaire brothers Ian and Richard Livingstone's company, has a property portfolio including 90 hotels, including its Iconic Luxury Hotels group (encompassing Cliveden, Chewton Glen, the Lygon Arms and 11 Cadogan Gardens in the UK), the Trafalgar St James, the Strand Palace and the Hilton Park Lane hotel in London.
