Claire Randall has left her position as general manager at the Idle Rocks, St Mawes, Cornwall, after six months in the role.
A source confirmed that Randall had departed the 19-bedroom hotel, which is a member of Relais & Chateaux, “for personal reasons”. Randall had also looked after sister property, the seven-bedroom St Mawes hotel, since arriving at the coastal resort in March.
Nikki Broom, who previously spent 13 months as resort director of St Michaels Resort in Falmouth, will replace Randall as general manager from tomorrow. Between 2007 and 2018, Broom worked for Red Hotels, during which time she provided support to Bedruthern Steps hotel and oversaw the launch of the Scarlet hotel in Mawgan Porth as general manager, before becoming hotels director for the group.
Prior to joining Idle Rocks, Randall spent 20 years at the five-red-AA-star, 42-bedroom Lucknam Park in Colerne, Wiltshire, initially as general manager before being appointed managing director in 2010. Earlier in her career she spent six years as an inspector for the Michelin Guide.
Idle Rocks is owned by David and Karen Richards, who bought the hotel in 2010. They oversaw a radical transformation of the property before reopening it in 2013. The St Mawes hotel was acquired later that year.
