The Chickpea Group is adding a fifth pub to its portfolio, opening the Queen’s Head this spring after refurbishments are complete.
The 19th Century pub is located in the village of Broad Chalke in the Chalke Valley in Wiltshire. The site, which features a restaurant, bar and four bedrooms, will undergo refurbishments and open to guests by early March. An additional five bedrooms will be added above the pub, with work set to start this summer.
The rooms at The Queen’s Head will be available from £95 per night B&B based on two people sharing. Meanwhile, the restaurant will provide 70 covers, with a further 80 on a sheltered outdoor terrace. The food offering will include a mix of pub classics like burgers and pies, as well as dishes such as Cornish ray wing with monk’s beard or Herdwick lamb shoulder with borlotti beans+ salsa verde. Local beers and ales will be available on tap and the wine list will be curated in partnership with nearby wine supplier Gardner and Beedle.
Chickpea Group is a handful of pubs with rooms – including the Bell & Crown in Zeals – and two Nole Pizza shops in the Southwest of England, owned and run by siblings Jordan and Ethan Davids (who won an Acorn Award in 2022), as well as their friend, Tommy Tullis.
