Chef Mark Jordan leaves Cow & Lobster restaurant after six months

Mark Jordan, former executive head chef of Jersey's Atlantic hotel, has left the Cow & Lobster just six months after its launch to concentrate on his restaurant on the island, Mark Jordan at the Beach.

Located on the waterfront in the heart of the financial sector of the island's capital St Helier, Cow & Lobster was a joint venture with Jersey entrepreneur Jonathan Ruff, the owner of the island's Tamba theme park.

It opened in October 2017, and the menu featured oysters for starters, followed by burgers, steaks and lobster dishes. It will now close for a compete "overhaul", including its menu.

In a statement on Facebook, Ruff said: "Unfortunately Mark has decided to leave the Cow & Lobster to focus on his other restaurant and as all the signage says ‘Cow & Lobster Mark Jordan' we had no choice but to take the signs down.

"So instead of re-doing the signs by taking Mark's name off them, we have decided to re-brand completely and carry out a menu overhaul based on the feedback we have received over the last few months."

Speaking to The Caterer, Jordan added: "I want to concentrate on just one establishment and I have some very exciting things happening at the Beach. It's a shame as I lived the Cow & Lobster. [I'm] just finding it hard to divide my time."
