Prime kitchen equipment manufacturer Charvet has re-opened its factory in France to clear a backlog of orders.
UK managing director Wayne Cuomo said: "The company has come out of lockdown with a measured, staged approach and we are gradually getting back to a targeted 100% productivity over the next few weeks.
"We are grateful to the small team of Charvet volunteers, who effectively redesigned the manufacturing process, so they can work to the French government guidelines and the new 'distanced' norm, albeit with facemasks and gloves.”
The workforce will be split into two shifts due to restrictions on how many hours they are allowed to leave home.
In the UK, the lockdown has been an opportunity for Charvet's team of engineers to fix maintenance niggles, carry out planned maintenance and upgrades for customers who can provide a safe site for them to work in, he added.
