CESA launches CE Mark Compliance service

In anticipation of Brexit, the Catering Equipment Suppliers Association (CESA) has stressed the importance CE Mark compliance.

The association has warned that CE Mark compliance is likely to be policed much more vigilantly after Brexit, both for importers and exporters of catering equipment. The CE mark ensures that all commercial catering equipment sold in the EU complies with all the relevant safety directives, including the Low Voltage Directive and the Machinery Safety Directive.

CESA has partnered with consultant Steve Witt (SWCD) to launch a CE Mark Compliance service that includes a free consultation to establish whether or not a company complies with the necessary legal requirements. If more work is needed, SWCD can provide consultancy to steer the company through the work.

“To keep doing business after Brexit, equipment suppliers will need to show they have the necessary level of documentation to meet the legal requirements of CE Marking or the EC Certificate of Conformity,” said Witt of SWCD. “They must also have the required procedures and record keeping in place, whether as the OEM or as the importer or distributor of finished products.”
