A car which became wedged against the basement windows of a Bath hotel has been removed.
The Kia Picanto collided with barriers outside the Francis hotel in Queen Square at around 4.45am on Sunday morning and fell 5ft before becoming lodged in a narrow alley.
Emergency services helped remove one person from the vehicle while a second was able to escape without assistance.
BBC footage showed a crane being used to lift the car out of the alley yesterday.
The hotel, part of the Sutton Hotel Collection, has remained open for business while the car was lodged against its basement.
Sutton Hotel Collection said: “We can confirm that a car was involved in an incident outside the Francis Hotel, Bath, part of Sutton Hotel Collection on Sunday 19 March around 4.45am. Fortunately none of the occupants sustained serious injuries and we wish them a full recovery. In addition, none of our guests or staff were involved in any way. As the situation is on-going and the police are working to conclude their investigation, we are unable to offer any further comment.”
A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving and was released on unconditional bail so further enquiries can take place.
Avon and Somerset Police are looking to speak to anyone who saw the collision or who may have dashcam or mobile phone footage which may be relevant to its ongoing investigation.
