Man arrested after car is wedged against basement of Bath hotel

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a car collided with railings and fell 5ft before becoming lodged against the basement of a Bath hotel on Sunday.

The Kia Picanto collided with the barriers outside the Francis hotel in Queen Square at around 4.45am. Images from the scene show the car on its side wedged between the edge of the hotel building and a wall extending to pavement level.

One person was released from the vehicle by a crew from Avon Fire and Rescue Service, with a second having got out of the car before emergency services arrived.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink and has been released on unconditional bail while further enquiries take place.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision, or who may have any dashcam or mobile phone footage.
