Car crashes into Indian restaurant in Chichester

A car has collided into Basmati Indian restaurant in Westergate, Sussex, which has resulted in two patients being taken to hospital.

 

The crash in Nyton Road, Chichester, was reported to Sussex Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) this afternoon (17 March).

 

Photos of the site on Sussex Live showed a gaping hole in the building.

 

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “RTC [Road Traffic Collision] car v building reported in Nyton Road, Aldingbourne, around 12.47pm. Road temporarily closed but since reopened and vehicle recovered. Male driver left in the care of the ambulance service.”

 

A spokesperson for SECAmb added: “We were called at approximately 12.50pm today (17 March) to reports of an incident involving a vehicle in collision with a restaurant in Nyton Road, Chichester.

 

“Ambulance crews attended the scene and assessed and treated three patients, two of which were taken to St Richard’s Hospital for further treatment.”

 

The cause of the incident is not currently known.
