Caprice Holdings to open Granary Square Brasserie at Grain Store site

Caprice Holdings will be opening new restaurant brand, Granary Square Brasserie, at the former site of Bruno Loubet's Grain Store.

The owner of the Ivy Collection and Sexy Fish is set to open the new all-day dining restaurant at King's Cross in London on 6 December, which will be overseen by general manager Harry Bown. The group acquired the site in August shortly after Loubet announced its closure due to his decision to retire.

The 250-cover restaurant will offer breakfast dishes such as Eggs Benedict, gluten-free granola, juices, and also a cream tea or coffee and cake menu.

Lunchtime offerings will include steak sandwiches with Burgundy sauce dip, shrimp and scallop burgers, smoked salmon and crab, and the ‘HLT' (halloumi, lettuce and tomato).

The interior design in the Grade II-listed space will feature cut-glass pendant lights, chairs and banquettes upholstered in silk and velvet, kilim rugs, and wooden tables, with a striking central bar. The venue will have a relaxed lounge area for informal lunches or coffee meetings, with vintage leather bucket chairs and low brass tables.

Evenings will see a resident DJ provide a backdrop for cocktails and dinner. An à la carte dinner menu will offer calamari with wasabi mayo, lime and chilli; and Thai-spiced mussels with chilli and grilled lime to start.

Main courses will include a classic fish pie with salmon, cod and smoked haddock; slow-roasted lamb shoulder with roast vegetables; and steaks. There will also be a range of puddings such as warm cappuccino cake and lemon meringue Alaska.

A weekend brunch menu will be on offer until 4pm, accompanied by Champagne, wine or cocktails.

A 73-cover terrace will overlook Regent's Canal and Granary Square's floor-level fountains, designed with teal parasols, planters, black wrought iron tables and chairs with bright cushions. In the winter months it will also provide heaters and blankets.
